EU Green Week 29 May to 2 June 2017

Green Week is Europe’s largest series of events on environment policy. The 2017 edition took place from 29 May to 2 June with the theme of ‘Green jobs for a greener future’. It focused on how EU environmental policies are creating green jobs and contributing to economic, sustainable and socially responsible growth in the EU. It also highlighted the demand for new types of green skills in many professional sectors.

Organised by PRACSIS in support of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Environment, this annual key event in the environment policy calendar attracts policymakers, leading environmentalists, stakeholders and other interested parties from across Europe and the globe.

This year, as many as 800 stakeholders gathered in Brussels to discuss a wide variety of environmental initiatives such as the LIFE project, the Ecolabel 25th anniversary, the maritime and oceanic sector. High-level speakers – including Karmenu Vella, Commissioner for Environment, Maritime Affairs & Fisheries, Daniel Calleja Crespo, Director General DG Environment and Yvon Slingenberg, Director DG Climate Action – engaged with the audience on different topics.
